| Complete Solutions... |
From the Pedal
to the Brake |
| |
| The ability to design and manufacture complete
braking systems that provide the stopping power our customers
demand has always been a hallmark of Carlisle. Our engineering
group develops integrated brake solutions that move from the
foot pedal to the hydraulic actuator to the brake, including
the friction material. We offer brake designs that range from
dry disc, caliper brakes to wet disc brakes for both service
and park applications. Several years ago, we introduced our
HydraStar/ ElectraStar line of trailer brake controllers to
help our customers improve trailer-hauling safety and meet
federal DOT regulations. |

| Better Braking |
by Design |
| |
Establishing the critical parameters for stopping or
holding/parking mobile vehicles and equipment is step one in the Carlisle design and development process.
Our experienced engineers will work with your team to review the application, identify a worst case scenario
and then define the torque required to stop or hold
anticipated loads and the heat generated in this process. The brakes can be dry disc, caliper style or wet disc
and mounted in the driveline or at the wheel end. Additional considerations of size, weight and actuation requirements
are evaluated, as well as the ability or need to interface with the electrical system for safety control
and engagement features.
Carlisle has over 2,500 standard part numbers that provide
an excellent frame of reference for solving varied braking
challenges. Once all of the design factors have been determined,
we undertake the engineering, modeling, prototyping, testing
and manufacturing steps previously covered. The outgrowth
of this process will be a new brake or braking system that
will satisfy all relevant SAE requirements and meet or exceed
expectations for time-to-market and in-field performance. |
